As part of National School Choice Week, Governor Jeb Bush today toured True North Classical Academy in Miami, FL. True North is a public charter school whose purpose is to create scholars that exemplify the classical ideal: excellence in soul, mind and body. True North serves more than 250 students in grades K-10 and ranks in the top one percent of all Florida public charter and traditional public schools.

“National School Choice Week celebrates the vital mission to ensure every child in America has access to a quality education. Parents deserve to be empowered with choices, teachers deserve the resources they need to succeed and students deserve access to an environment where they can reach their full potential. That’s what educational choice can achieve,” said Governor Jeb Bush, founder and chairman of ExcelinEd. “It was a privilege to be with the students, parents and teachers of True North today and recognize their many accomplishments. As legislatures across the country consider policies this year, it is my hope that these leaders continue to expand educational opportunity so that every family can have access to a school that best fits the learning needs of their children.”

True North K-8 Headmaster Jeanine Finlay said, “I want to thank Governor Bush for visiting True North and all the work he has done for school choice within the state. School choice has put the decision-making back in the hands of families.”

More than 3 million children attend public charter schools in America and nearly 1 million are on a waitlist for a charter school. Visit ExcelinEd.org/Opportunity to learn more.
