As a Policy Analyst, Kayla supports ExcelinEd’s policy team to help states build and implement policies that promote educational opportunity, quality and innovation. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Florida A & M University (FAMU) where she was President of the FAMU Literary Guild and a Summer English Mentor for the Department of Developmental Studies. She received her Master’s of Applied American Politics & Policy (MAAPP) from Florida State University (FSU). While attending the MAAPP program she worked in FSU’s Office of Faculty Development and Advancement and interned in the Florida House of Representatives. In her spare time she enjoys knitting, reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
