National Director, Advocacy
Jessica is ExcelinEd’s National Director of Advocacy and supports the Advocacy Team in their work with state leaders and policymakers to transform education and to ensure students are prepared for real life. Before joining ExcelinEd, Jessica served as the Executive Director of Alabama GRIT (Graduate Ready. Impact Tomorrow), a statewide advocacy coalition of Alabama parents, business leaders, and civic leaders helping Alabama’s children graduate ready for college and career. Her experience also includes serving in Florida as Press Secretary for the Florida Department of Health and Communications Director for the Lt. Governor’s Office. She has worked on several campaigns and committees, and while in Washington, DC held various roles within the USDA’s Office of Rural Development, the White House, and DCI Group. Her passion for education, politics, and service comes from her family of educators and those who have served our country in different capacities. Jessica earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Communication from Auburn University with a minor in English. When she isn’t working with her team, she enjoys the outdoors, music, and SEC football with friends and family, all with her dog in tow.
