TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Foundation for Excellence in Education (ExcelinEd) released the following statement following the NAACP Board of Directors’ vote calling for a national moratorium on public charter school expansion.
“The Foundation for Excellence in Education regrets the NAACP’s call to block the expansion of public charter schools. This decision sends a negative message to the nation’s nearly 3 million charter school students and their families,” said ExcelinEd CEO Patricia Levesque.
“Educational options are critical for ensuring students are in the best environment to succeed. In fact, surveys demonstrate that African-American families support more – not less – educational choices for their children.
“ExcelinEd will continue to push for broader school choice so that all students, in all communities, have access to a quality education.”
