Statement from ExcelinEd CEO Patricia Levesque on the U.S. Supreme Court decision on Endrew F. v. Douglas County School District

Tallahassee, Fla – Today, Patricia Levesque, CEO of the Foundation for Excellence in Education (ExcelinEd) released the following statement on U.S. Supreme Court decision on Endrew F. v. Douglas County School District.

“The Court held that in order to meet its obligations under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), a school must provide an individualized education program that is ‘reasonably calculated to enable a child to make progress appropriate in light of the child’s circumstances.’

“The Court’s unanimous decision supports not only the law but the best interests of families and children by ensuring all students including those with disabilities have access to programs that best fit their unique needs.

“We look forward to working with states around the country to meet the legal requirements and the moral imperative to ensure every child, regardless of their background or ability, has access to high quality educational options that prepares them for success in school and in life.”
