The Foundation for Excellence in Education (ExcelinEd) announced that Sal Khan, founder and CEO of Khan Academy, will be speaking at the 2019 National Summit on Education Reform on Thursday, November 21 in San Diego, CA. As the Foundation’s flagship initiative, the National Summit on Education Reform annually convenes the best and brightest from around the world to share strategies to improve the quality of education for all children.
Khan started Khan Academy to provide a free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere. Over the past decade, more than 80 million learners have used Khan Academy’s free online materials to master content at their own pace thanks to step-by-step interactive exercises, bite-sized videos and instant feedback on their progress.
“We believe that every child is born with the desire to learn. They only need the chance. When students have access to a free, high-quality education, they can achieve their dreams.
“At Khan Academy, we’re creating a world where barriers to learning don’t exist, where education systems use the new tools of technology and the enduring talents of teachers to reach students wherever they are, whether in in classrooms across town or on the other side of the globe.
“How we deliver education is constantly changing, and I’m continually inspired to meet the visionary leaders, educators and partners who are making it happen. Great conversations are in store at ExcelinEd’s National Summit on Education Reform, and I look forward to being there.”

During the special closing keynote, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, founder and chairman of ExcelinEd, will present Khan with the Excellence in Education Award for his work expanding access to a free, quality education for students around the world.
“Linking the power of technology with a free platform for learning is transforming lives in every corner of the globe. Sal’s vision—and Khan Academy’s extraordinary achievements—are what big and audacious goals look like when they come to life. It’s deeply inspiring to see education changing before our eyes, and it’s a vivid reminder to always ‘think big’ on behalf of students.”
