Governor Jeb Bush Announces Senator Ben Sasse to Open 2018 National Summit on Education Reform

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Governor Jeb Bush, founder and chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education (ExcelinEd), is proud to announce U.S. Senator Ben Sasse will be the opening keynote speaker for the 2018 National Summit on Education Reform, taking place on Thursday, December 6, in Washington, D.C.

ExcelinEd’s flagship annual event brings together educators from across the country and around the globe to strategize on improving education for all children.

Governor Bush is unfortunately unable to attend the 2018 National Summit on Education Reform, due to this week’s funeral services honoring President George H.W. Bush.

“Ben has become one of our nation’s most inspiring leaders by advocating policies that will expand opportunity and prosperity for every American,” said Governor Bush. “At the core of what will determine our nation’s future is how successful we are in educating the next generation of Americans. Few leaders understand this challenge like Senator Sasse. I thank Ben for joining the 2018 National Summit on Education Reform to share his hopeful and urgent message on raising a thoughtful and engaged citizenry.”

First elected in 2014 by winning each of Nebraska’s 93 counties, Senator Sasse is a fifth-generation Nebraskan who has quickly become a rising star in the U.S. Senate.

“I am honored to address the 2018 National Summit on Education Reform, a critical convening on the urgent need to transform education in America. Under the leadership of Governor Bush, ExcelinEd’s work in opportunity, innovation and quality is critical to the success of America’s students and I look forward to being with top education leaders from across the country to reflect and strategize on the opportunities and challenges before us.”

In his recent book, The Vanishing American Adult: Our Coming-of-Age Crisis – and How to Rebuild a Culture of Self-Reliance, Senator Sasse describes how America’s students are not equipped to survive in a new global economy. Senator Sasse looks at why a generation has struggled to grow up and offers solutions to ensuring our country’s success with active and engaged citizens.

During the 2018 National Summit on Education Reform, ExcelinEd will host more than 1,000 legislators, state superintendents, policymakers and thought leaders working to build a brighter future for our nation’s families. The packed two-day event will feature notable keynote speakers and in-depth strategy sessions on evolving laws, new trends, successful policies and the latest innovations that are transforming education for the 21st century.

Keynote addresses and strategy sessions will be open to the media. Members of the press interested in covering the event must register for media credentials. Media registration is open now.
