Tallahassee, Fla. – Governor Jeb Bush, founder and chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education (ExcelinEd), announced two additions to the organization’s board of directors. Chris Cerf previously served as New Jersey Commissioner of Education, and Gary Chartrand is a business executive, author and education advocate who previously served on Florida’s State Board of Education.

Chris Cerf has worked extensively in the education arena, most recently as Superintendent of the Newark, New Jersey public schools. He previously served as New Jersey’s Commissioner of Education where he oversaw 2,500 public schools, 1.4 million students and 110,000 teachers in more than 600 school districts.

Gary Chartrand is the Executive Chairman of Acosta, a leading sales and marketing agency in the consumer packaged-goods industry. Mr. Chartrand has a passion for education and led a community effort to help bring Teach for America to Jacksonville, Florida, one of the first cities in Florida to attract Teach for America to its community. He currently is board chair for KIPP: Jacksonville Schools and previously served as chairman of the Florida State Board of Education.
