Yesterday, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey delivered his second State of the State address, in which he reiterated his continued commitment to improving and expanding educational opportunities for all of Arizona’s children. The Foundation for Excellence in Education (@ExcelinEd) applauds Governor Ducey for his leadership in continuing to improve Arizona’s education system and making it a model for the country.
The Governor signaled his resolve to take bold steps to ensure that every Arizona child has access to a quality education and is prepared for the future with the announcement of his plan to reward schools that increase the number of students earning college credit through Advanced Placement courses.
Some highlights from Governor Ducey’s plan to continue improving Arizona’s education system include:
- College and Career Readiness: The Governor said, “So – under our plan, schools that produce students who successfully complete AP-level, college-prep courses will be rewarded with more dollars.”
- School Choice: As a pioneering state on school choice, Governor Ducey wants Arizona to continue its support for high-quality charter schools, ensuring that all students can find the schools and education program to meet their learning needs.
Governor Ducey is continuing to embrace a reform agenda that opens the doors of opportunity for every Arizona family. We look forward to partnering with Governor Ducey and the Arizona legislature to help every Grand Canyon State student achieve their full potential through these policies and others.
Thank you for your continued support of these efforts.
