2017 National Summit to Feature Five Sessions on Educational Quality



The Foundation for Excellence in Education (ExcelinEd) today announced that the 2017 National Summit on Education Reform will showcase conversations about educational quality at the annual event in Nashville, Tennessee. On November 30 – December 1, these five separate strategy sessions—featuring some of the nation’s leading experts—will cover crucial issues facing today’s education leaders:

Join Advancing Equity with ESSA: The Good, The Bad & The Wonky to understand the changing national landscape on school accountability. Our expert panel will discuss state policies that are advancing equity and student achievement, the greatest opportunities and obstacles states face as they move to implement their plans for the Every Student Succeeds Act, the biggest surprises about the process, and predictions about the future of ESSA’s impact on student learning.

In Doubling Down on Early Literacy: Ensure Every Child Can Read, learn about the newest findings in early literacy and how state chiefs are doubling down to improve reading outcomes for all students.

How does your state fund student learning? Join What’s New in Education Funding? Tools for Policymakers to learn the steps policymakers can take to prioritize financial transparency and make education funding more effective in their states.

In The Teacher Shortage: Myths, Realities & Solutions, our expert panel will examine the extent of the shortage across states and offer state-level solutions to building a diverse, high-quality teaching force to meet students’ needs.

ExcelinEd’s National Summit on Education Reform, now in its 10th year, will convene leaders from across the nation and around the world to share strategies to improve the quality of education for each and every child at the Omni Nashville Hotel from November 29 – December 1.

Governor Jeb Bush will open the National Summit’s content-rich agenda with a keynote address on Thursday, November 30. The National Summit will focus on reform topics of educational opportunity, innovation and accountability in general sessions with nationally renowned speakers, targeted strategy sessions and hands-on workshops featuring policy experts, legislators and educators sharing proven and next generation policy solutions for improving learning for all students.

Each year, the National Summit on Education Reform serves as a strategic convening for leaders who want a timely, comprehensive overview of all elements of transformative education policy. The unique gathering equips them with the knowledge, know-how and a network of experts to champion students in every classroom across America. Last year’s National Summit convened 1,045 education leaders from 47 states, with 94 percent of attendees praising the event as “outstanding” or “above average.”
