Each year, the National Summit on Education Reform’s keynotes and general sessions never fail to inspire, engage and empower attendees with the strength of spirit needed for making a difference for students. Here are a few previews of what’s in store for you at our 12th annual convening:
- 65th Anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education: This landmark Supreme Court decision changed the course of education in America. A distinguished panel of education leaders will reflect on its lasting impact and highlight the work still needed to advance educational equality for each and every child. We’re honored to welcome Cheryl Brown Henderson, daughter of the Reverend Oliver Brown for whom the case is named, as one of our panelists. You won’t want to miss this!
- Dr. Jonathan Haidt: Ideas that challenge conventional thinking are one of Jonathan’s fortes, and they serve as a critically important way to forge new paths in education policy. We’re excited to hear Jonathan’s latest perspectives on classroom discourse, emotional development and how today’s polarized climate is impacting our children, so we can ensure today’s students become the critical thinkers and resilient leaders we urgently need.
- Back by popular demand are two amazing speakers: Dr. Todd Rose, award-winning author of Dark Horse and End of Average, will share new research that expands on his groundbreaking “end of average” thinking, breaks the cookie-cutter mold of success and empowers us all to lead lives of “passion, purpose and achievement.” Sal Khan is the founder of Khan Academy, a nonprofit organization with the mission of providing a free, world-class education for anyone anywhere. Khan Academy’s content and mastery learning platform has more than 80 million registered users all over the world and has been localized into more than 40 languages.
This year’s National Summit will put you a step ahead in today’s vital and challenging education conversations. I encourage you to reserve your spot with the early registration discount, available for one more week. You’ll also want to secure a room in the onsite hotel, right on beautiful San Diego Bay.
You’ll find everything you need to register on the 2019 National Summit on Education Reform website. Watch for updates there and in your inbox over the coming weeks. I’ll see you in November.
