Today, the Foundation for Excellence in Education with the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools and Ampersand Education released a new report that explains how to attract high-performing Charter Management Organizations (CMOs) to states and cities. The paper, How to Recruit High-Performing Charter Management Organizations to a New Region: Results from the 2015 CMO Survey, includes results from the 20 high-performing CMOs surveyed in 2015.Report Cover ImageStates and municipalities aggressively recruit successful businesses to move within their borders to enhance economic development. They need to apply similar strategies in recruiting successful charter schools, those with proven records of advancing student achievement, particularly disadvantaged students struggling in their existing schools. Aside from the moral and social imperatives, there is no better tool for economic development than an educated and skilled workforce, which businesses prioritize as they make location decisions.

During the 2015 National Summit on Education Reform, we hosted a panel on this very topic. You can view this session below.

We hope the new paper can serve as a helpful tool for policymakers and local leaders as they work to recruit schools to their communities.
