My School Info Design Challenge
Since the My School Info Design Challenge kicked off in September 2014, ExcelinEd has brought together experts from across the country to bring attention and energy to the importance of quality, easy-to-understand access to powerful school information and transform today’s report cards to a 21st century tool with easy-to-understand information for parents, policymakers and the public.
With the challenge complete and winners announced, ExcelinEd released, “Building State Capacity for Powerful School Information.” The findings report reviews the research that inspired the project, recaps design submissions, features winning designs and highlights the key elements of a high-quality report card.
Policy Report: Turn and Face the Strain
Turn and Face the Strain: Age Demographic Change and the Near Future of American Education is a groundbreaking report by Dr. Matthew Ladner outlining the fierce battle looming between the needs of public health care and education. “Hurricane Gray” is coming ashore in all 50 states, and every day for the next 15 years, 10,000 Baby Boomers will reach retirement age.
The Baby Boom generation is retiring and, at the same time, sending their grandchildren to school. State governments are not prepared to deal with either phenomenon, much less both. Read the report now to learn more about the changing demographics in America and how education policy can help mitigate many of the issues.
